strategy & build for
SeaScreen
an ocean-friendly sunscreen.
Context
SeaScreen exists because conventional sunscreens harm marine life — so the brand has to win on values as much as on product. The site had two jobs at once: educate people on a problem most don't know they're part of, and build enough trust in the alternative to drive a sale. Mission and commerce needed to reinforce each other, not compete.
Approach
I built the site to make the values legible at a glance — mineral-based ingredients, plastic-free packaging, cruelty-free practice — so the why lands before the buy. Fun graphics and a confident brand identity keep it from feeling preachy, and the flagship CANSA-accredited SPF 50 is given pride of place, with its benefits framed for both skin and sea.
Outcome
A digital home that earns trust through values and converts it into sales — a mission-led product that reads as credible rather than worthy.
